Our Mission

Welcome to Sluice Box Sled Dogs, where the spirit of the Alaskan wilderness meets heartfelt compassion and love for our incredible sled dogs. Nestled in the hills west of Fairbanks, Alaska, our kennel enjoys warmer temperatures than the valley bottoms and sunsets that seem to last forever, casting a magical glow over our serene haven. Our kennel is a tribute to the traditional Alaskan huskies and the timeless bond between humans and dogs. Our kennel is a working kennel, honoring the heritage and versatility of these magnificent animals.
Our mission is simple: to provide a loving and nurturing environment where our dogs can thrive, and to share the joy and beauty of mushing with others. Our dogs are not just part of our kennel; they are part of our family. We are dedicated to ensuring that each dog receives the utmost care, respect, and affection.

Our Team

Greg Nappi
First came to Alaska in 2003 seeking adventure in the last frontier. Since then Greg has guided and instructed mountaineering, including several ascents of Denali, ice climbing, rock climbing and mushing. In 2009 Greg received the Citizens award from the state of Alaska for a rescue he executed while on a mountaineering trip in the Chugach mountains. He now resides with his wife Amelia and their ever growing kennel in Fairbanks.

Amelia Carpenter
Grew up in Colorado on a farm with working animals. She first came to Alaska in the summer of 2007, working at a lodge on the Kenai River. She moved back up to Alaska permanently in the spring of 2013 and shortly after she started working for the Alaska railroad. This eventually brought her to Fairbanks, where she met Greg and his three dogs, and they began their adventure together.
